Full-service florist Flowers for Dreams is a champion of welcoming growth and cultivating change in and out of their own four walls. They donate a quarter of their profits to local charities, which demonstrates their commitment to cultivating improvements in the community.
Another area where Alex Wasserman, Chief Financial Officer at Flowers for Dreams, saw an opportunity for growth was with the company 401(k). Describing their former plan as “slow, time-consuming, complicated, expensive, and antiquated,” Wasserman also had to spend time every week on 401(k) administration, which included doing manual calculations in a spreadsheet.
Looking for an alternative, Wasserman saw the benefits of using Human Interest for a 401(k). “Not only was the plan so simple for our employees to set up on their end, but on our end, it was so simple in terms of pricing structure and ease of transition and integration with our payroll system.” Looking at participation rates, it’s clear to see the switch has made a positive impact: Wasserman noted that the plan now has about 100 participants, whereas the previous plan had just 15 participants. So not only is Flowers for Dreams giving back to the community, but it’s contributing to employees’ growth as well. “When I see the increase in participation, I am so excited for our employees.”
“Not only are we saving literally thousands of dollars that we are able to put back into our 401(k) in the form of a match, but I spend maybe an hour at most per year with Human Interest on the Concierge plan.”
