Notice at Collection | Job Candidates and Employees

This Notice at Collection (“Notice”) describes the types of information that Human Interest Inc. and Human Interest Advisors LLC (collectively referred to for purposes of this Notice as “Human Interest” or “we”) collect and process about California residents who apply for employment with us or are employed by us. The Notice at Collection also explains how Human Interest uses and discloses your personal information, as well as how you may control certain uses of it. This Notice at Collection does not apply to use of Human Interest’s website or our other online facilities and services. By applying for employment or being employed by Human Interest, you are consenting to the practices described in this Notice at Collection. If you do not agree to the practices described in this Notice at Collection, please do not apply, accept, or retain employment at Human Interest. 

Information we collect about candidates and employees 

The categories of personal information we may collect during the application and employment process include: 

Identifiers

Examples

Identifiers and contact information, such as: 

  • A real name

  • An alias

  • A postal address

  • An email address

  • A unique personal or online identifier

  • An IP address

  • An account name 

  • A social security number (SSN)

  • A driver’s license or passport number

  • Another form of persistent or probabilistic identifier that can identify a particular consumer, family, or device

Personal information

California Customer Records’ Personal Information categories (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)) which, in addition to the identifiers described above, also includes a person’s:

Educational information

  • Non-publicly available educational information under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and related regulations (20 U.S.C. Sec. 1232g; 34 C.F.R. Part 99) such as school and related education information.

We treat sensitive personal information that we collect as personal information because the collection purpose is not for inferring characteristics about a consumer. The sensitive personal information we may collect includes:

Enabling information security, detecting security incidents, authenticating your identity, and performing due diligence.

Personal information collected and analyzed concerning a consumer’s health.

Who we share your personal information with 

We do not “sell” personal information of applicants and employees, as that term is defined under the CCPA. 

We may share personal information with other parties as necessary for the purposes described above. For example, we may share your personal information with: 

  • Affiliates. Our corporate parent, subsidiaries, and other affiliates under the control of our corporate parent, for purposes consistent with this Notice or to operate shared infrastructure, systems and technology. 

  • Company service providers. Companies that provide us with services that help us manage the recruiting process and operate our business, such as job boards, recruiters, interviewing and testing, pre-employment screening, interview travel booking and expense reimbursement (where applicable), relocation (where applicable), and recruitment analytics. 

  • Government entities. Government authorities, law enforcement, courts, agencies, and other legal entities. 

  • Business transfers. Parties to transactions and potential transactions whereby we sell, transfer or otherwise share some or all of our business assets, including your personal information, such as a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, or in the event of bankruptcy or dissolution. 

  • Professional advisors. Lawyers, banks, immigration advisors, consultants, background check providers approved by you, and other outside professional advisors. 

  • Customers and business partners. Customers, other companies and individuals with whom the Human Interest does business or is exploring a business relationship. 

Sources of Personal Information 

Human Interest collects information from you in a few ways: 

  • When you choose to share it with us. This may include data collected when you use our website or apply for employment, purchase or use our services, request customer support, or otherwise communicate with us. 

  • Automatically when you visit our website or interact with our services, for example, through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies, and by logging activity on the services. 

  • From other sources. We use the data we collect to deliver and continually improve the experience of employees and job applicants. 

Exercising your CCPA rights. In order to exercise your rights under the CCPA, and if you are a California resident, you can email or call us. 

You may authorize another person to make CCPA requests on your behalf (an “authorized agent”). Your authorized agent will need to demonstrate that they are registered with the California Secretary of State to conduct business in California and that they have authority to act on your behalf, or that the agent holds an appropriate power of attorney. We may ask you to confirm that you authorized the agent to act for you. 

Human Interest will disclose and deliver the required information free of charge within 45 days of receiving your verifiable request. We may ask you to provide additional information or documentation to verify your identity. The time period to provide the required information may be extended once by an additional forty-five (45) days when reasonably necessary and with prior notice. 

Security 

Human Interest takes physical, administrative, and technical steps to safeguard the information we collect from and about our applicants and employees. However, we cannot guarantee our security measures will be effective against all security threats. 

Children under age of 16

Human Interest does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of sixteen (16) without verifiable parental consent. If it is determined that such information has been inadvertently collected on anyone under the age of sixteen (16), we take immediate steps to delete the information. 

Retention of personal information

We maintain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the legitimate business purposes for which the information was collected, to meet our legal obligations, or protect or defend our legal rights. 

Changes to the Privacy Policy 

Human Interest reserves the right to update and/or change the terms of our Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices. We will post notice of changes to our Privacy Policy on the site: (https://humaninterest.com). If we make changes that are material, we will notify you and, where required by applicable law, obtain your consent. 

Your obligations

Among other obligations, including without limitation the obligation to provide complete and accurate information in recruiting and employment documents and processes, it is your responsibility to ensure that information you submit does not violate any third party’s rights. 

You should keep your personal information on file with Human Interest up to date and inform us of any significant changes to it.
