Annual census

An employer must provide the previous year’s census data to their plan’s recordkeeper every year. The plan recordkeeper keeps track of the money in an employee’s 401(k) plan account. Census data must include the name, date of birth, date of hire, termination date (if applicable), hours worked, compensation, and amount of money contributed to each employee's 401(k).
